Virginia Tech added another member to their Class of 2018 on Sunday as wide receiver Darryle Simmons announced his commitment via Twitter in a video that featured all of his finalists.

Simmons is rated as a 4-star wide receiver, a top-40 receiver in the country and the 8th-best player in the state of Pennsylvania. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound receiver was offered by Virginia Tech in June 2016, and the Hokies were a factor in his recruitment from the get go. Simmons holds 15 scholarship offers, and his top six schools were Tech, Penn State, North Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Simmons visited Virginia Tech for the first time in March 2017 with friends Nasir Peoples and Kyle Pitts. Peoples committed to Virginia Tech prior to that visit on Feb. 22, but since that visit, the Hokies have been in great position with Simmons and Pitts. At this point, Pitts is still uncommitted.

Simmons gives Virginia Tech the first bigger, taller wide receiver they were looking for in the Class of 2018. The Hokies will likely take at least one more taller receiver, and have several targets on their board. Tre Turner holds Virginia Tech in high regard, and the Hokies sit well with Daniel George and Dillon Spalding, as they do with others.
