Isaiah Ford voted onto Preseason All-ACC Team

Isaiah Ford
Virginia Tech wide receiver Isaiah Ford (1) will play a big role in the Hokies’ offense this season.

Virginia Tech wide receiver Isaiah Ford was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team Wednesday, and was the only Hokie to make the list.

Ford’s selection isn’t all that surprising. In his two seasons at Virginia Tech, Ford, a junior, has started all but three games, catching 131 passes for 1,873 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 75 receptions and 11 touchdowns last season are both school records. Ford, who had 1,164 receiving yards in 2015, is the only Virginia Tech receiver in school history to have 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

Other Hokies who missed the cut include tight end Bucky Hodges and defensive end Ken Ekanem.

Hodges, a redshirt junior, has 1,056 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in his career and should play a pivotal role for Virginia Tech this season. Ekanem, a redshirt senior, has started 26 games in his career and has 14 career sacks and 24 tackles for loss.

Here’s the rest of the Preseason All-ACC Team, with the number of votes the selected players received out of 191 media members.

  1. Pre-season rankings don’t mean a thing. Let’s see where some of our guys are at the end of the season. After they beat Clemson for the ACC Championship!

  2. UNC has had some good recruits but they are always over-rated and hyped by the ACC Media. I’ll take ours over there’s any day. Also, we are DBU. Where is one Hokie DB on that list? I’m hoping we dominate the Post Season All ACC List.

    1. It would appear that way. 18 of the players are from the Atlantic, 10 from Clemson.
