Next season is months away, but the Hokies just landed their first recruit in the Class of 2018. Jarren McAllister, a guard/forward from Heritage High School in Wake Forest, NC., committed on Friday afternoon.

He was immediately welcomed by Tech guard Justin Robinson.

At 6-foot-3, 160-pounds, McAllister could easily grow in the next couple years before he comes to Virginia Tech, which would allow him to play forward at the college level. According to MaxPreps, McAllister played 29 games this past season, averaging 13.4 points per game, 5.1 rebound per game and 3.4 assists per game.
