A closer look at Virginia Tech’s rebounding numbers

Virginia Tech’s rebounding has been a major reason for their 10-20 season thus far. Today we’ll take a closer look at Tech’s individual rebounds, and compare their numbers to some past players.

Here’s how the rebounding numbers stack up in ACC play.

Christian Beyer: 4 per game
Justin Bibbs: 3.5 per game
Ahmed Hill: 3.4 per game
Devin Wilson: 2.9 per game
Malik Mueller: 2.9 per game
Adam Smith: 2.6 per game
Satchel Pierce: 2.4 per game
Shane Henry: 2.1 per game
Jalen Hudson: 1.9 per game
Will Johnston: 1 per game

Virginia Tech’s leading rebounder in ACC play averages a measly four rebounds per game. I believe Christian Beyer gets the absolute most out of his ability, which is why there’s no reason to be upset with him for being Tech’s top rebounder. There is absolutely nothing unfortunate about the Christian Beyer story. Indeed, how bad would we be at rebounding if he didn’t decide to walk on at Virginia Tech four years ago? We should be thankful that he’s here.
