A busy offseason for Mike Goforth

The Virginia Tech Associate AD for Sports Medicine is having a busy offseason.  As is common this time of year, many Hokies are going through rehab after postseason surgeries.  Mike Goforth talked to BeamerBall.com about the football players who are currently going through rehab, and we’ll take it a step further and analyze what it could mean for the player and the team.

Brandon Facyson (r-So.) – “He’s recovering well from his fracture. We’ve moved him from crutches into a boot and that transition is going well. Brandon will be “out” for our Winter Workouts and then we’ll re-evaluate this status going into Spring.”

My take: It took Facyson awhile to get over last season’s injury.  Even though he was practicing and even played in the first three games of the season, the signs of rust were obvious.  This injury is more severe than his previous injury, so I think it’s important to not rush him back too quickly.  His absence this spring won’t hurt the Hokies, as they have so many cornerbacks returning.  Look for Greg Stroman (So.) to get a lot of work in his absence, as well as true freshman Mook Reynolds.
