OSU Win “Meant A Lot” To Reynolds

Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) senior Mook Reynolds has been a constant around the Virginia Tech program since he committed to the Hokies back in February of this year. The 6’0”, 175-pound defensive back has visited Blacksburg numerous times and plans to return again this Saturday for the East Carolina game.

Reynolds has developed a close relationship with Tech coaches Bud Foster, Charley Wiles and Torrian Gray, so it was no surprise to learn that he spoke with the staff yesterday. The focus for the coaches right now is getting the team ready for ECU, but Reynolds is still energized following last Saturday’s win in Columbus, Ohio.

“It meant a lot to me,” Reynolds said, referring to Tech’s win over Ohio State. “It meant a lot because the offensive production was good. That’s what lacked before. New guys came in and we have the pieces we need on offense to follow up behind the defense. It’ll give us a chance to compete for the ACC and hopefully make it to the biggest game.”

Asked what impact he felt last Saturday’s win will have for the Tech program, Reynolds said: “I think it does a lot. It opens up eyes all across the country. I feel like some people forgot about Virginia Tech. Last year, I kind of forgot about them myself. We’re still major. We play the toughest games. We’re a tough team that can beat anybody on any given day. [The OSU win] let’s them know the defense is still stellar and the offense can now do big things.”
