In this edition of the BCB, I am going to take a look at the Hokies recent game against William & Mary. We will use video to break down some of the key plays and discuss strategies and tendencies. For this article, I am going to focus primarily on the offense, because the defense was predictably solid. On the offensive side of the ball, we had new faces, new gameplans and many surprises. Let’s get to it.
The Hokie Offense
I’m going to start off by saying that I am nowhere near as concerned as many of the fans are by the false start penalties that plagued the Hokies in the first game of the season. Obviously, that level of sloppiness needs to be cleaned up by the time the Hokies get off the plane in Columbus, but I believe it will. Scot Loeffler and especially Stacy Searels run a VERY tight ship, and I can tell you that those guys are very focused on having a disciplined offensive operation. Let’s see how they do in Columbus before we get too worked up about procedure penalties on the offensive line. In other words, I’m going to need to see a rash of penalties this week before I believe this is an issue.
