Recruiting is heating up for 6’5″, 190-pound shooting guard Jalen Hudson , a rising senior out of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. The University of Virginia extended a scholarship offer to Hudson last Tuesday, July 30. Arkansas, Tulane, VCU, U-Mass, and Virginia Tech have followed suit, with Tech coming through with an offer on Saturday, August 4.
“It feels great,” Hudson said of his recent recruiting success. Akron, George Mason, Miami (OH), and Ohio are among the schools that had offered prior to last week’s run. “Definitely I know my hard work is paying off. I was glad to be able to showcase my abilities [in July]. It is great to be able to play your best basketball in the biggest times. I am pretty excited, and I think there are a lot more offers to come. I’m still keeping my options open.”
Hudson’s July AAU stops included Indianapolis and Milwaukee, and finished up in Las Vegas for the Adidas Super 64.
“I showed college coaches that I can score in various different ways,” Hudson said when asked what he felt he showed college coaches to earn the new offers and interest. “Also that I can guard pretty much the 1 through the 4 positions. I can run the point as well. A lot of coaches didn’t know I could run the point. I ran it in Vegas and I think people were impressed.”
