Pettit Accepts Virginia Tech Offer

Patrick Henry (Deshler, OH) rising senior offensive lineman Colt Pettit made his first ever visit to Virginia Tech on Tuesday of this week.  On Wednesday, just hours after taking an unofficial visit to Marshall, Pettit decided to end his recruitment and verbally commit to the Hokies.

There were several reasons why Pettit chose Virginia Tech, but new Tech offensive line coach Jeff Grimes was one of the most important factors.

“Coach Grimes is a great guy.  He’s a first-class guy,” Pettit said.  “He has proved he’s a great coach.  I met his family.  They are a great family and he is a great family man.  He’s a big Christian, which is important to me.  I went on a mission trip recently and he and I talked about some of the stuff I learned there.  I loved the school.  The downtown part is neat.  It’s a good school.”

Pettit spent Wednesday afternoon considering Virginia Tech’s offer and whether or not to commit.  He didn’t want to wait too long, as the Tech coaches informed him they had only one spot left available at his position.
