The Latest On Billy Ray Mitchell

Barring a change of heart, Billy Ray Mitchell will not make a commitment at the end of June, something he had originally hoped to do.  The Paramus Catholic (Paramus, N.J.) class of 2014 offensive lineman will wait just a bit longer to make his college choice.

Updating the latest on his recruitment, Mitchell said:  “Right now, I’m thinking I’ll wait to commit, the latest being by the end of next month.  A couple of other schools have shown interest, like Wisconsin and Tennessee.  But as I’ve said before, Virginia Tech is very, very high on my list.  Even though Ole Miss hasn’t offered, they are high on my list.  The reason for me wanting to get the decision out of the way is not only because commitments are coming in and slots are filling up, but the season is approaching.”

Mitchell plays offensive tackle at PC, but with a 6’3″, 275-pound frame, he’ll likely play on the interior offensive line on the major college level.

At this point, Mitchell is contemplating which school or schools to visit in the coming days and weeks.  A trip to Wisconsin “most likely” will happen, he said, but he isn’t sure if he will head to Knoxville to further explore Tennessee.  Nebraska is also in the running for a visit.
