Barring a change of heart, Paramus Catholic (Paramus, N.J.) offensive lineman Billy Ray Mitchell  appears likely to choose between two schools:  Mississippi and Virginia Tech.  Mitchell, a rising senior, visited Blacksburg last weekend and is en route to Oxford (MS) for a Friday visit to Ole Miss, his father’s alma mater.

“When I went to Virginia Tech, I just had that gut feeling that it was a place I could see myself at,” Mitchell said.  “If I have that [at Ole Miss], things could be tough.”

Mitchell has not definitively been offered a scholarship by the Rebels, though one seems very likely to come on Friday.  Virginia Tech has offered.  Georgia Tech and N.C. State are among the others that have offered as well, and those two schools are “also in the mix” according to the 6’4″, 270-pound prospect.

Mitchell would like to make a commitment by the end of June.  A decision could come soon, but probably not as early as this weekend.
