Armstrong Has New Favorite

Matoaca High School (Chesterfield, VA) wide receiver Trevion Armstrong traveled down to Blacksburg this past Saturday, one of two prominent rising junior prospects from the Richmond (VA) area to attend Virginia Tech’s Prospect Day.  The experience really resonated with the 6’4″, 210-pound prospect, who now has a new favorite school.

“I visited UVa like three times.  For a long time, they were my number one choice,” said Armstrong.  Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) defensive tackle Darvin Taylor was the other standout Richmond area rising junior at Tech this past weekend.

Following the visit to Blacksburg, Armstrong said:  “Virginia Tech is now my number one choice.  Virginia Tech showed me they wanted me more than UVa did.  At first, my recruiting coach at UVa was Jim Reid, who is a really good guy.  Then they fired him, and right now I don’t feel like they are even that interested in me.  At Virginia Tech, the visit was more family oriented.  I felt like, at Virginia Tech, they were happy to see me.  They took care of me and my grandmother.”

Virginia Tech is showing strong interest in Armstrong, who has not yet received a college scholarship offer.
