Since 2006, every Virginia Tech fan has kept an eye on the progression of the offensive line. It was the weak spot of the Tech offense for three years, but since 2009 the production up front has gotten a lot better.

The Hokies lost four starters from last year’s team, but you’ve got to take a deeper look than that. One of the projected starters for 2012 played over 450 snaps last year without starting a game. Another was in the playing rotation before suffering a foot injury. One of the projected backups for 2012 has played over 500 snaps in his career at center and guard. There is much more experience up front than most folks realize.
