Wilson Picked #32 Overall by the Giants

David Wilson was selected by the New York Giants with the #32 and final pick of the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft.  He becomes the first Tech player selected in the first round since Duane Brown in 2008, and the ninth Tech player ever picked in the first round.

Wilson set the single season school record with 1,709 rushing yards this season.  He had nine rushing touchdowns, and he also caught 22 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.  He averaged 5.9 yards per carry.

Wilson joins the following Tech players as first round picks…

Mike Johnson, LB, #18 overall in 1984
Bruce Smith, DE, #1 overall in 1985
Eugene Chung, OL, #13 overall in 1992
Jim Druckenmiller, QB, #26 overall in 1997
Michael Vick, QB, #1 overall in 2001
DeAngelo Hall, CB, #8 overall in 2004
Kevin Jones, RB, #30 overall in 2004
Duane Brown, OL, #26 overall in 2008

The NFL Draft will resume on Friday.  Jayron Hosley, Danny Coale and Jarrett Boykin hope to hear their names called over the next six rounds.

  1. Congratulations to David “watch me now” Wilson. The Hokie Nation is very proud as you. You have always represented VT well. You are a class act with a killer smile. If you can’t be a Redskin, at least we’ll get to see you play twice a year.
    Best of luck….

  2. Fantastic accomplishment for a fantastic young man and a fantastic Hokie ! !

David Wilson and The New York Football Giants. Fantastic ! !

  3. Congrats to David Wilson. Glad he went in the first round. Hope he has a great career as long as it’s not against the redskins. Look forward to seeing him play on Sundays. Go Hokies!

    1. Yes, but his new head coach may struggle a bit with his antics. He may have to tone things down a bit.

On the other hand, maybe Coughlin will find it refreshing after the ‘tude and negativity of Brandon Jacobs.

      1. I don’t think that DW’s antics are the kind that get to Coughlin, he stays out of trouble – he is just flashy. With his style and personality he could be a huge star in NY. Hang on to the ball Dave!

    2. As long as he produces. Miss a step in the Big Apple and they will chew you up and spit you out…especially the fans.

      1. I heard Giants fans like a fumbler with a propensity for running backwards at inopportune times.

  4. All your hard work is about to pay off. Thanks for making Hokie Nation look good and for being smart enough not to “blow it” (unlike some others)

  5. GO HOKIES!!! DAVID WILSON FIRST ROUND PICK!! WE ARE ALL SO HAPPY FOR YOU HERE IN DANVILLE DAVID!!! TREY EDMUNDS WILL BE WITH YOU SOON!!!
