Davis Injury Leaves More Work for Young Receivers

Marcus Davis missed last night’s mini-scrimmage with a hamstring injury.  There is no word on how long he’ll be out, though I would be surprised if he scrimmaged this Saturday.  With Davis out, along with D.J. Coles , the Hokies now have an extremely inexperienced group of wide receivers.

Saturday’s scrimmage in Lane Stadium at 10:45am is open to the public, and I encourage you to check it out.  You’ll see a lot of receivers that you don’t recognize.  Here’s a quick list of the guys who will be scrimmaging on Saturday, including their numbers in case you choose to attend.

#11 Dyrell Roberts : Roberts is back this spring, but he’s a little rusty according to wide receivers coach Kevin Sherman.  Remember that Roberts missed the last four games of the 2010 season, then was out for the spring of 2011, and then got knocked out for the season in game three against Arkansas State.  He hasn’t played much football recently, and he doesn’t have a lot of time with Logan Thomas.  But, with Marcus Davis and D.J. Coles out, Roberts becomes Tech’s #1 receiver.
