Hokies In Hot Pursuit Of NC QB

Quarterback Carlis Parker missed most of his junior season due to a torn LCL, but he’s healthy now and ready to assume a starring role for Statesville (N.C.).

“Spring practice is going real good,” said the 6’4″, 185-pound signal caller.  “The knee feels great.  I’m running a lot and everything, and I’m a lot stronger.”

Statesville head coach Randall Gusler, whose team boasts three major FBS recruits (Parker, ATH Tristan Mumford and CB Breon Borders), concurs with Parker’s assessment.

“Carlis looks really good,” Gusler said.  “He is doing all the skill and drill stuff.  “I know he has gotten much stronger.  I can see it in his upper body.  The kid benched 315 pounds.  He’s very strong, and you can see it in his chest and shoulders.  He’s moving around very well.  He’s working extremely well in the weight room.  He seems to be gaining his confidence back.”
