Caleb Selects Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has beaten out Ohio State and West Virginia for 4-star athlete Joel Caleb .  Caleb announced his decision at an 8:30 a.m. press conference at Clover Hill High School (Midlothian, VA).

The 6’3″, 210-pound senior, a 3-year starter at quarterback and free safety for the Cavaliers, will play wide receiver for the Hokies.

Ohio State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia were the eventual finalists, but the prized prospect considered over 20 scholarship offers from all over the country.  Caleb is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN.com, Rivals.com and Scout.com.  Nationally, the U.S. Army All-American is no. 83 in ESPN.com’s Top 150, no. 84 in the Rivals.com Top 250, and no. 204 in the Scout.com Top 300.

Caleb also comes in at no. 3 in the TechSideline.com Postseason Top 40, which ranks the top 40 recruits in the Commonwealth.

  1. I don’t get too excited about signing day because hi school success seems to have little to do with college success.
    Still – Why is losing a kid to Saban easier to acccept than losing a kid to Urban?

  2. While I understand it wasn’t an “either or” thing I’d much rather lose a kid to Saban than Urban.
