Dale Junior D.J. Reid Up To 3 Offers

UNC recently joined UVa and Virginia Tech in having offered 6’1″, 190-pound junior D.J. Reid, a speedy “athlete” prospect out of Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia. According to Knights head coach Kevin Tucker, more ACC offers could be on the way.

“He got an offer from UNC last week,” Tucker said of Reid. “I believe Maryland, Duke, and Boston College could be next in line. Most of the ACC schools are showing a lot of interest. Most SEC schools are starting to show interest. The injury bug bit him last year, so a lot of coaches want to see how he can do this year. And they want to see how he can do against good teams. Well, we played Bird and Varina and he showed his talents. He showed he is an athlete. Once I get more tape out, I think more will come in.”

Reid sees spot duty at outside linebacker as well, but he is primarily used on offense on the high school level. So far this season, he has played quarterback and running back. He has potential at several different spots on the college level.

“Most college coaches are offering as an athlete right now,” Tucker said. “He could be a tailback or slot receiver on offense. Defensively, he would be a strong safety type guy. Offensively, we try to set him up as the main ball carrier for us. I’m hoping to consistently get him 20 to 25 carries per game.”
