South County (Lorton, VA) junior Devin Vandyke has four major FBS scholarship offers in the fold, including Boston College, Maryland, Vanderbilt and West Virginia. The 6-1 1/2, 205-pound linebacker is also drawing interest from Navy, Pitt, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Is either in-state FBS program closing in on an offer?

“I have an offer from Virginia Tech to come to their one-day camp this summer,” said Vandyke, whose brother Ronny signed with the Hokies in the 2011 class. “The thing about that is I went to one of their one-days last year, so I’m not sure I’ll go back. I feel they think I’m a tweener because of my height and size.”

With Virginia, Vandyke said, “I’m going down there on April 2 for the Spring Game, but I haven’t really heard a lot from their coaches, so I don’t know much about them right now.”

Asked if Virginia Tech is his favorite given the family connection, Devin said, “I’m not favoring Virginia Tech. They are recruiting five linebackers and four have been verbally offered. I don’t even have a scholarship from them yet. I’m not favoring anyone. I’m just looking for the best place.”
