Caleb Receiving Big-Time Interest

Clover Hill (Midlothian, VA) has its biggest matchup of the 2010 season on Friday, when the Cavaliers take on L.C. Bird for first place in the Dominion district. Quarterback/defensive back Joel Caleb , already one of the most highly recruited prospects in the state’s 2012 class, has had his fingerprints all over Clover Hill’s 6-0 start.

The 6-3, 205-pound junior has completed 50 of 93 passes for 713 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has 78 carries for 421 yards as well.

“One thing that jumps out is his size,” Clover Hill head coach Sean O’Hare said. “He is 6-3, 205 pounds. For starters, his size puts him on the charts. He moves well. It’s kind of amazing, watching the Bird quarterback (Anthony Harris) and Joel because those two move a lot alike. They just slide and glide down the field. Another thing that separates Joel is that he is a great team player. He is confident, but he’s not cocky. He’s a great kid. He’s a great leader. His teachers like him. His classmates like him. His teammates like him.”

Harris, who played recreation league football with Caleb, sees the total package in his counterpart.
