Monday Thoughts: Shinskie Overwhelmed by Tech Defense, Again

Virginia Tech shut out Boston College on Saturday, and we saw things return to the norm in many ways. The Hokies recorded six sacks, didn’t allow any points, and the Tech offense executed well against zone defense in the passing game. However, some other things that have been problems for Tech recently reared their ugly heads once again.

Note that Will Stewart is unavailable this week, so I’m taking my first ever stab at Monday Thoughts. It’s interesting how much you can pick up when watching the film twice, with a handy rewind button available. Stewart will return to action next week, so to speak.

The Shutout

With their 19-0 win over Boston College, the Hokies shut out an opponent for the first time since they blanked UVA 17-0 at the end of the 2006 season. It was the first time the Eagles have been shut out since Tech did it to them in 1998 on a rainy Thursday night in Chestnut Hill.
