2012 Profile: LB/RB Trey Edmunds

In 6-2, 200-pound linebacker/running back Trey Edmunds , Dan River (VA) possesses a versatile, athletic player who performs at a high level on offense, defense and special teams. Edmunds’ ability has drawn attention from top local FBS programs including Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

“He’s the core of our defense,” said Dan River head coach Ferrell Edmunds, Trey’s father. “He plays inside linebacker on defense. He’s the main force on our defense. On offense, if we gave the ball to him 20 to 25 times a game, we probably wouldn’t lose a game. But we are already asking so much of the kid. We ask him to play every snap. We have to be smart with how we use him. Being the athlete he is makes him such a big part of our team.”

Trey, who is in his third year on the varsity level, is up to the task of being an every-down performer.

“I work hard day in and day out, in practice and when I’m at home,” he said. “At the house, I do extra running. At practice, I go 110-percent. Each game, I’m just trying to have fun and give my all and do whatever I can.”
