The Virginia Tech baseball team will travel to Columbia, SC this weekend for their NCAA Regional, where they will face The Citadel in their opening game. The Hokies are the #2 seed in the regional, with the host team South Carolina Gamecocks the #1 seed.

Sorted by seeds, the other teams are: #1 Virginia, #1 Georgia Tech, #1 Florida State, #1 Miami, #2 Clemson, #3 UNC and #3 NC State.

The Hokies will play The Citadel on Friday, and the time will be announced later. The Citadel went 42-20 on the season and won the Southern Conference Championship this past weekend. They have won 12 straight games, which is the second longest active winning streak in college baseball.

South Carolina, the #1 seed in the regional, went 43-15. This is their 11th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. They have made the College World Series eight times in the history of their program.
Bucknell is the #4 seed. They were only 25-33 this year, but they won the Patriot League title to get the automatic invite to the NCAA Tournament.

The winner of the Columbia Regional will take on the winner of the Myrtle Beach Regional. The teams from that regional are #1 Coastal Carolina, #2 College of Charleston, #3 NC State and #4 Stony Brook. The Super Regionals are a best of three series, while the opening round Regionals are in a double elimination format.
