Dew Recalls UA All-American Bowl Experience

First Colonial (Virginia Beach, VA) safety/linebacker Nick Dew ‘s showcased his skills against some of the nation’s best prospects last week, when he competed in the Under Armour All-American Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The 6-2, 192-pound senior, the lone Virginia Tech commit at the event, had a great experience.

“The whole trip exceeded my expectations. From the plane ride to meeting other recruits to playing against the best of the best to playing on national TV, it was all great,” Dew said. “My favorite part was playing in the game and coming down and hitting people.”

Dew’s strong performances in practice earned him a starting nod at free safety for the White team. He was also in the rotation at strong safety, but free safety is the position he played last Saturday. The White team fell 32-7, but Dew came away pleased by his performance throughout the week.

“I think I impressed with my fundamentals and being physical with the guys,” Dew said. “I played closer to the line in high school, so I’m used to being physical. I think I was more physical than they expected.”
