Before 6-4 junior guard Rob Brown stepped onto the court for East Ridge (Clermont, FL) this season, he worked hard on the summer AAU circuit to improve his overall game. Brown was pleased with how the AAU season went and is currently enjoying a solid 2009/2010 season for East Ridge, which is ranked sixth in the Florida Class 6A ranks with a 12-2 overall record.

“Offensively, I tried to work on different aspects of my game in different tournaments,” Brown said, referring to the work he put in on the 2009 AAU circuit. “One tournament, I’d work mostly on shooting. In another one, I’d work on driving. But it was my defense that really needed help. Defense is an area I know I need to improve in if I want to become a better player. I know Virginia Tech does play very good defense. After I committed, the coaches told me that they expect their players to play defense.”

This past spring and summer, Brown would often ask to play the opposing team’s best player. In the end, he felt good about his improvement.
