Recruiting Notes: Gough and Perez-Means Are Ready

Virginia Tech grey-shirt recruits Kory Gough and Duan Perez-Means have used the extra months before enrolling at Tech to their advantage. Gough, a former Liberty (Bealeton, VA) offensive lineman, has added bulk to his 6-6 frame, while Perez-Means, who starred at Hermitage (Richmond, VA), is healthy after summer shoulder surgery. Both are excited and ready to enroll at Virginia Tech next month.

“He was just in here the other day,” Liberty head coach Tommy Buzzo said, referring to Gough. “His weight is up to 290 pounds. He looks like he weighs 270. He is lean and strong.”

Gough started at offensive tackle as a senior, earning Washington Post all-metro honors for his performance. He performed well as a senior, but the extra months to prepare have enabled him to mature physically.

“I think a grey-shirt for his kid was great,” Buzzo said. “He had good height and strength. I believed that, with his frame, he would explode physically. He was floating around the 250 or 260-pound mark when he committed. He is 290 pounds now.”
