VT Offers King’s Fork Standout LB

King’s Fork (Suffolk, VA) head coach Joe Jones took two of his rising seniors to Tech’s camp on Saturday, including linebacker/running back Dominique Patterson and quarterback LaRay Kindred. Both players performed well, with the former coming away with a scholarship offer from head coach Frank Beamer and company.

Patterson, a 6-1, 203-pound prospect, posted three impressive 40 times in the morning camp session. He ran a 4.55 40, then a 4.5 40 and finally he posted a 4.48-second time before heading off for lunch. He also posted a sub-4.5 time in the shuttle.

“They really liked how Dominique performed in the afternoon,” Jones said. “The camp was rain-shortened, but they were anxious to get him on the defensive side of the ball. Bud worked with him. Coach Beamer was over there getting reps in. They liked him enough to offer him.

Jones added, “We were all excited. He is a good football player. He has a nose for the football. He is the kind of player Tech is looking for on the defensive side of the ball. He is athletic and he can run. East Carolina and Marshall, they’ve been recruiting him. I think they’re going to offer, too.”
