Virginia Tech Offers In-State LB/TE

The Evaluation period is coming to an end and new offers are being extended to rising seniors all across the country. Virginia Tech’s coaches have been extending new offers, one of which went to Loudoun County (Leesburg, VA) linebacker/tight end Chase Williams , who was informed of the offer on Tuesday afternoon.

“[Chase] was very excited [about the offer from Tech],” Loudoun County head coach Todd Hill said. “Virginia Tech had been here and talked to us, but we hadn’t really heard anything in six weeks or so. Then I got the phone call saying they had watched more film and were offering. I think Virginia Tech is enticing to Chase because it is in-state and pretty close to Leesburg.”

The son of former Washington Redskins and current New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, the 6-3, 240-pound Williams is being pursued by the Hokies for the defensive side of the ball.

“Right now they like him more as a linebacker, though they are up in the air. He could also be an H-back or tight end,” Hill said. “As I’ve said before, it helps that Chase is able to play on both sides of the ball.”
