Q&A with QB Commit Ricardo Young

After accepting the Big-Time Football Showcase quarterback MVP award last Thursday night, H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.) rising senior quarterback Ricardo Young announced publicly that he had committed to Virginia Tech. Young, a 6-1, 170-pound prospect, chose Tech over numerous offers including Connecticut, Maryland, South Florida, Syracuse and West Virginia. He spoke at length with TechSideline.com, discussing his decision, his performance at the Elite Combine, the commitment of Mark Leal and more.

A top quarterback target of Tech’s, Young, a dual-threat signal caller, passed for 3,089 yards and rushed for 780 more last season as a junior. He totaled 42 touchdowns including 31 passing and 11 rushing. Efficient, he threw only five interceptions on the season.

Young and Atlantic Community (Delray Beach, FL) quarterback Mark Leal (pronounced Lee-Al) are two of Virginia Tech’s seven commitments in the 2010 recruiting class.
