Cody Journell’s VT Official Visit

Cody Journell enjoyed his time in Blacksburg this past weekend, when he made an official visit to Virginia Tech. The 6-0, 175-pound place-kicker, a star out of Giles High School (Pearisburg, VA), has been committed to the Hokies since last June, so the weekend offered an opportunity to relax and learn more about the school he will attend for the next four or five years.

Journell, one of a handful of Tech recruits and targets on official visits last weekend, provided the scoop on what a Tech official visit is like.

“When we got there on Friday, they took us over to the West End, which is like a dining hall that is connected to the athletic dormitories,” Journell began. “We met up with the coaches and our hosts for the weekend. We ate dinner there. The West End is really nice, so I had like a bourbon steak and lobster. After that, we went out with our hosts and the coaches took our parents out.

“On Saturday, [the recruits] had breakfast with all the coaches and some ex-players. They showed us the campus and the classrooms. We had lunch in the Merriman Center. We got to go with our hosts and hang out at the dorms for a while before we had dinner in the stadium. They turned the lights on and everything. We had a nice dinner there and then went out with our hosts while our parents went to Coach Beamer’s house for dessert.
