Gough Earns WP All-Metro Honors

6-6, 260-pound Liberty (Bealeton, VA) senior Kory Gough performed very well in 2008, his first full season as a starting offensive tackle. In addition to helping the Eagles capture a Group AAA Division 5 Northwest Region championship, he earned Washington Post first-team all-metro honors for his play.

“[Liberty] Coach [Tommy] Buzzo came in and said, ‘Congratulations. You made the all-met team,'” Gough said. “I didn’t know much about it at first, but once I found out what it was all about I was shocked. I also made Gameday Magazine’s first-team.”

Scoring an offer from Virginia Tech – the program with which he is committed – was without question a major accomplishment for the senior standout, who started at defensive tackle and saw action at offensive guard and tackle the previous season as a junior. He started on both sides of the ball his senior season, but Virginia Tech is recruiting him to play offensive tackle.

“I feel I performed pretty well this year,” Gough said. “As the season went on, I thought things got better and better for me. Tech came and watched me in our biggest game, against Battlefield. After they saw me then, they said they’d love to have me. That’s all the proof I needed that I was playing well.
