Former Hylton (Woodbridge, VA) standout tight end Eric Martin will arrive at Virginia Tech later this month, just under a year after signing a letter of intent with the Hokies. Martin signed a letter of intent last February and grey-shirted, so the long road to Blacksburg is almost complete.

“I leave for Tech on the 17th [of January],” said Martin, who knows he’ll be joined by fellow northern Virginia standout and 2008 Tech signee Ben Barber. Barber, a wide receiver/defensive back, also grey-shirted.

Martin certainly kept busy this past fall, taking a math class at Northern Virginia Community College while also serving as an assistant on Hylton’s junior varsity squad. Keeping in shape, he has been lifting weights, running and playing basketball in preparation for his arrival at Tech.

Of course, he also followed his future program’s progress this season, which included an ACC title and an Orange Bowl victory.
