2008 Virginia Tech signees Tony Gregory entered Fork Union Military Academy with one major goal in mind – to take care of business in the classroom and on the ACT or SAT in order to gain admission to Virginia Tech in January of 2009. FUMA postgraduate head coach John Shuman updated the status of Tech’s recruits.

Coles and Gregory signed with Virginia Tech last February, but enrolled at Fork Union this summer after falling short of qualifying academically.

“Everything is in to the Clearinghouse and in to Virginia Tech, so we’re just waiting to see,” Shuman said. “We’re feeling pretty comfortable that the guys have done enough ACT-wise and grade-wise to be there, but we’re waiting to find out.”

Coles, a 6-3, 200-pound wide receiver prospect out of Goochland High School (VA), transitioned from being a running back at Goochland to being a wide receiver, which is the position he will play at Virginia Tech.
