Virginia Tech gained a big-time commitment last Thursday night, when 6-6, 225-pound Brookville (Lynchburg, VA) star Logan Thomas pledged to the Hokies. It was the end of what was a long recruitment for Thomas, one of the most coveted recruits in the country.
“It is a big relief. I’m real happy to be done and I’m happy to be a Hokie,” said Thomas, a selection to the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl game.
“It hit me on Monday morning [of last week]. Virginia Tech was just where I wanted to go. I’ve been praying about it for a year. I think God led me to Virginia Tech and I’m very excited.”
Rumors of a possible Thomas commit started to surface in recent weeks, so perhaps the decision didn’t come as a major surprise. Still, the Tech staff was no doubt thrilled with the decision, scoring a commitment from a versatile, fluid athlete who has the potential to be a major force on the offensive side of the ball.
