King William (VA) defensive tackle Nick Acree , a 6-6, 305-pound prospect who may be one of the top juniors in the country, verbally committed to Virginia Tech at Tech’s first 2008 camp in June. That hasn’t stopped other Division 1A programs from trying to get involved, but is the big-time junior interested in checking out a few of those programs?

“Nineteen other schools are looking at me and want me to play for them. I’m a Hokie, but I think I’ll check out a couple of other schools,” said Acree, who listed California, Georgia and LSU as programs he could possibly take official visits to next fall.

Elaborating on his commitment to Tech, Acree said, “I’m committed and I’m keeping that. I’m happy to go there, but I can still take visits and have a free chance to check out other places. I love Virginia Tech and I’m happy going there. I’m not trying to take back my commitment, but I have to make sure. And I do want to have official visit experiences as a senior and check out other schools.”
