2010 Class: Rockbridge County OL Caleb Farris

Rockbridge County High School has had its share of college-level football players over the years, so it is not a huge surprise that the Wildcats boast one of the top linemen in the state of Virginia’s 2010 class. 6-4, 295-pound offensive lineman Caleb Farris , a starter on the varsity level since his freshman year, has caught the attention of many college coaches.

“Caleb has done a really good job for us,” Rockbridge head coach Jason White said. “He will end up being a 4-year starter at left tackle for us. He’ll be a center or guard in college. He is just an overpowering blocker with a relentless work ethic. He works at it 365 days a year. He really steps up and takes on a leadership role. He even tells seniors what to do, which is hard to do for someone his age. He has kept growing – he went from 245 pounds to 270 to 295 now. He is still moving real well. The sky is the limit for him. And he has the nastiness and explosion you like to see from lineman.

“Also, he is a capable long snapper and having that background helps.”

The beginning of September marks the beginning of when high school juniors can receive official scholarship offers from Division 1A programs. Farris has yet to receive his first 1A scholarship offer, but don’t be surprised if that changes by the end of his junior season.
