More on Miller’s Commitment to VT

Landing a commitment from Bassett (VA) offensive lineman/defensive lineman Andrew Miller is a big deal for Virginia Tech. The scholarship strapped Hokies will get a quality recruit – a 6-5, 275-pound lineman who had offers for football-only offers from Florida State, Virginia and Wake Forest – and it doesn’t have to use up a scholarship in the 2009 class.

The Group AA heavyweight state champion in wrestling in 2008, Miller, who will sign a letter of intent with Tech’s wrestling program next month, looks forward to the challenge of playing both sports in college even if wrestling is only for one year.

“It definitely was a tough decision, but at Tech I’ll get to do two sports. Plus, there is the Agriculture thing,” Miller said of his decision to sign with Tech for wrestling. After his first year, he will be on scholarship for football for the rest of his college career. “It feels nice to get the opportunity to see what I can do in college in wrestling. I’m excited for both of them. I’m excited to see what I can do.”

Even though the wrestling program is expected to only have Miller for one year, Tech head coach Kevin Dresser will make the most of the situation.
