Two years ago, Virginia Tech landed a standout wing forward out of the state of Georgia in former Stone Mountain High School standout Terrell Bell. Two years later, head coach Seth Greenberg has received a verbal commitment from another wing from the Stone Mountain area.

Earlier today, 6-7, 198-pound forward/guard Manny Atkins pledged to Coach Greenberg and company following a busy week of college visits that included a trip to Blacksburg.

“I took three visits this past week. I went to Marquette on Thursday, Clemson on Saturday and Virginia Tech on Sunday,” Atkins said. He was accompanied by his mother on all three trips. “Marquette and Virginia Tech were real close on my list. The main reason that separated them was that Marquette is real far from home. Virginia Tech is only two hours away and I also loved the campus. It’s real nice. Coach Greenberg is cool. I felt like I could be real comfortable there. I met with the academic advisor, who seemed real strong on getting players to graduate.”
