Edwards Brothers to Begin Camp Tour at VT

Marlboro County (Bennettsville, S.C.) standout rising seniors Tariq and Tyrell Edwards will begin their summer camp stops this weekend, when they plan to head to Blacksburg for Virginia Tech’s first summer camp. The brothers both have received Division 1A offers, but as of yet nothing has come from the Hokies.

“Tariq has got a bunch of scholarship offers,” Marlboro County head coach Dean Boyd said. “He has N.C. State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Duke, Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, Clemson and Wake Forest. Tyrell has four now. Tennessee is the latest to offer both of them. Duke has offered both of them. Illinois has offered both and Vanderbilt has offered both.

“A lot of schools are waiting to see Tyrell at camp to try him out at different positions. He could be a tight end or split end or linebacker.”

Tariq Edwards is a 6-4, 225-pound prospect who is being recruited to play defensive end or outside linebacker by most college coaches. A versatile player, he played tight end/wide receiver and linebacker last season as a junior. This spring, he was moved to defensive end and performed well there according to Coach Boyd.
