Boyce Feeling Good

Xavier Boyce ‘s senior season ended prematurely after just four regular season games, as the 6-4, 210-pound safety/wide receiver missed the rest of the year due to a separated left shoulder. The Virginia Tech recruit has recovered from the injury, as evidenced by his play on the basketball court.

“He is healthy,” Landstown head coach Steve Canter said of Boyce, who did not have to have surgery on the injured shoulder. “He is playing really well in basketball right now. He is averaging about 18 points a game. He is doing really well.”

Listed as an athlete on hokiesports.com, Boyce has the potential to play wide receiver, safety or linebacker at Virginia Tech. He was being recruited primarily to play safety before the first two games of last season, when he showed off his ability at wide receiver. In those games, Boyce totaled 10 receptions for about 152 yards.

Boyce’s performance at receiver caught the attention of the Virginia Tech coaches, but Coach Canter feels his former star may start out on the defensive side of the ball.
