Jones Visits GT; TN Visit in Question

Green Run (Virginia Beach, VA) star Joe Jones did make an official visit this past weekend, but it wasn’t to any of the programs previously involved in his recruitment. Georgia Tech, which seriously entered this race about a week ago, hosted the 6-3, 245-pound standout defensive end. How did the experience go?

“I think Atlanta was nice. I had a lot of fun,” said Jones, who received a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech over the weekend. “It was different because it is in a city. It was a little different, but nice. I think the coaches are real cool. I talked to a lot of them, really. The head coach, Coach Johnson, was nice. I talked to him. He was telling me I could come in and if I do real good then I could come in playing behind Mike Johnson.”

Johnson, a junior defensive end, was Jones’ host throughout the weekend. Jones enjoyed his time with Johnson and other Yellow Jacket players.

“They were real cool,” Jones said. “I hung out with quite a few of them. Most of them were real cool.”
