Tweedy to Enroll at Tech; Clayton Sets Visit

Former Hermitage (Richmond, VA) LB/S Alonzo Tweedy will finally enroll at Virginia Tech. He enrolls this Saturday with classes beginning on Monday. Tweedy, who signed a letter of intent with Virginia Tech in February of 2007, is one of two grey-shirted prospects that delayed enrollment for one semester.

Despite not being in Blacksburg this past fall, Tweedy kept busy with his former football team. He worked closely with Hermitage’s defensive coordinator and attended some games. He also worked hard to improve his strength and conditioning before arriving at Tech.

Hermitage head coach Patrick Kane feels that Tweedy has and will continue to benefit from the grey-shirt.

“When he graduated high school, he was only 17 years old,” Kane said. “The extra time for his body to mature will be huge at the back end of his college career. That is the best benefit. Obviously, he has continued his training and that will help him. Believe it or not, it looks like he is taller. I haven’t measured him, but it looks like he has grown another inch. He has that extra time of physical maturity.”
