A day after landing one of the state of Virginia’s most coveted recruits, Virginia Tech went to Florida to land its 24th commitment of the 2008 class. Earlier today, Oviedo High School defensive lineman Dwight Tucker informed the Tech coaches of his decision to commit to the Hokies.

“I committed today to Virginia Tech,” Tucker said. “It feels good to have made the decision. I’m looking forward to playing some football at Virginia Tech. I think I can play early and that was a main thing for me.”

Tucker, a 6-2, 275-pound prospect, made an official visit to Tech on December 8th and had originally planned to make an official visit to Tennessee next weekend before making a decision. He will not make the trip to Knoxville.

“Tennessee was having some coaching staff problems and I didn’t want to deal with that,” Tucker said.
