6-2, 280-pound defensive lineman Antoine Hopkins , a star senior out of Highland Springs, verbally committed to Virginia Tech at Tech’s home victory over East Carolina. Hopkins, who turned down offers from Tennessee and Virginia as well, turned in a terrific senior season, helping the Springers to an undefeated regular season and a district championship. And he is the subject of the latest “Q&A.”

Hopkins earned second-team all-state and first-team Richmond Times-Dispatch all-metro honors for his senior season performance. On the year, he racked up 61 tackles including 19 tackles-for-loss and three sacks and added a forced fumble.

Hopkins is a three-time Times-Dispatch all-metro selection, earning first-team honors his sophomore and senior seasons and second-team honors as a junior. His brother, sophomore Derrick Hopkins, was a first-team all-metro selection this season as well.
