Becton Completes First Official Visit

OL Nick Becton from New Hanover High School in Wilmington is one of the top remaining uncommitted prospects from the state of North Carolina. He also comes at a position of need for N.C. State in particular as the Wolfpack coaching staff has made the offensive line a huge priority for the class of 2008.

At 6-6, 290 pounds and boasting 5.24-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Becton has a rare blend of size, quickness and athleticism. Although raw, Becton has a world of upside and as a result has landed scholarship offers from N.C. State, Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Penn State, among others.

The Wolfpack has been among the leaders for Becton’s signature all year and this past weekend they had the opportunity to host the three-star prospect on an official visit. While he’s made several unofficial trips to see State in the past, Becton was able to clarify where the Wolfpack coaches plan to line him up as well as the overall atmosphere among the N.C. State players.

“I think the main thing is I found out that they plan to play me at left tackle,” said Becton. “At least I guess they’re going to put me at left tackle but I know I’ll be at tackle. I got to hang out with the players at the dorms and that was nice.
