Landstown (Virginia Beach, VA) star Xavier Boyce favored Northern Illinois prior to visiting Blacksburg for Virginia Tech’s second one-day summer camp yesterday. The 6-4, 200-pound safety prospect enjoyed his trip to Virginia Tech, but was it enough for the Hokies to grab the top spot?

Saturday’s experience was Boyce’s first in Blacksburg since attending camp prior to his freshman year.

“I wanted to participate, but the coaches wouldn’t let me. They didn’t know I had been cleared to play earlier this week,” Boyce said of Saturday’s experience. He was accompanied on the trip with his mother and a teammate from Landstown. “I took a tour to see the campus. I loved the campus. It is a real great school. They had good facilities.”

Following the camp, Boyce and his mother met with Tech head coach Frank Beamer.
