Hopkins Talks Camp Experience, Recent Offer

6-2, 260-pound defensive line recruit Antoine Hopkins participated in UVa’s Big Man Camp last month. It was an important visit for Hopkins and for UVa, which was looking to impress the Highland Springs (VA) standout. Hopkins will now head to Virginia Tech for next Saturday’s senior camp and is also considering a third scholarship offer.

“The trip was real, real good,” Hopkins said of his UVa experience. His younger brother also participated in the camp.

Virginia offered a scholarship in March, but the coaches still made sure the state of Virginia standout knew how much they want his signature.

“As soon as I got there, I got a chance to talk to Mike Groh,” Hopkins said. “We were just talking about the day. We didn’t really talk long because he had to go. He said he was happy to see me and glad I could make it. When I got to the field, I had a chance to talk to Coach London. He pulled me aside and showed me different moves. He was telling me how I fit into their scheme. Then I talked to Al Groh. He was saying how good I looked and how fast I was off the ball. He also said he was happy to see me.”
