6-6, 315-pound OL/DL Vinston Painter , perhaps the top prospect in the state of Virginia in the 2008 recruiting class, was not able to make a planned visit to Virginia Tech last Saturday. The Hokies still remain at the top of his list, though, and he may visit Blacksburg later this summer.

Painter has received over 50 Division 1A scholarship offers to this point. Maryland, Miami, North Carolina and Penn State are among the schools that communicate with Painter almost on a daily basis, but Virginia Tech and Florida continue to be his top two schools.

“[Florida and Virginia Tech] are still up there, but I’m still trying to sort through the rest of them,” Painter said. “I don’t have a full official list. I should have a top 10 sometime soon.

“I’ve been talking to the Florida coaches on the phone. They also text and keep in contact pretty often. Tech does, too. I talk to them over the phone a lot.”
