Last night, 6-3, 170-pound shooting guard Malcolm Delaney did what he has consistently done throughout the 2006/2007 season, and that is to help Towson Catholic (MD) to a victory. The Virginia Tech signee poured in 21 points in the 91-61 win over Calvert Hall, Towson Catholic’s 20th win of the season.

“We’re playing well as a team,” said Delaney, who signed with the Hokies last November, of Towson’s success this season. “We have a lot of athletic people and we like to get out and run. We work well together. We know how to work together. Pretty much all of us played for Team Melo [in AAU]. The seniors have played together since the 10th grade, which is when I transferred in.”

Delaney says he has been averaging about 20 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals per game this season. His effectiveness goes beyond the stat-sheet, however.

“I’m more of a shooting guard for my team. I can score and I can get people better. I try to lead our team,” Delaney said. “I think this year, I’m more aggressive on the offensive end and the defensive end. I work hard and I think my teammates can see that. My leadership has been helping the team.”
