Lanier Reflects on Shrine Bowl, VT Official Visit

6-5, 235-pound tight end recruit Andrew Lanier has garnered a reputation for being an accomplished blocker in his career at Dorman High School (Roebuck, S.C.). In fact, Dorman Head Coach Dave Gutshall called the Virginia Tech recruit “as good an open field blocker as I’ve seen and maybe the best we’ve ever had.”

Lanier had an opportunity to show off his talents in this month’s NC/SC Shrine Bowl.

“It was a lot of fun,” Lanier said of the Shrine Bowl experience. “The course of the whole week was fun, just building up the excitement and getting to play my last high school football game. By the time Saturday rolled around, I was really excited and pumped knowing it would be my last high school game.”

Unfortunately for Lanier, the North Carolina team defeated South Carolina 23-16. Lanier turned in a solid game.
